About Olivia
Olivia Charney Interior Design is a full-service design studio specializing in both residential and commercial interiors. Based in Fairfield County, Connecticut, OCID’s projects span the Eastern seaboard, including the Florida Keys, The Carolinas, New York, Connecticut, Nantucket, and the Hamptons. The firm’s principal designer Olivia Charney, Allied ASID, is a native of the low country of South Carolina. She is the daughter of a passionate antiques collector who instilled in her the thrill of the hunt for hidden treasures and an appreciation for the art of making a home. After receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree from Converse College in South Carolina, Olivia worked for a renowned architectural firm ‘Mark Finlay Architects’ in Southport, CT and continued her education at the New York School of Interior Design in Manhattan. Olivia’s skills include a strong understanding of space and proportion, a fresh and energizing use of color, strong knowledge of historical reference and context, a naturally refined sense of style, being very detail orientated, and organized, all combined with a deep respect toward the value of a client’s time and budget.
Olivia’s deep Southern roots provide her with a strong foundation in classic design. Her extensive travels and variety of interests continually inspire her to incorporate the very best influences and styles when it comes to creating richly layered interiors that are ultimately elegant, comfortable, and timeless. OCID’s philosophy is that a truly successful design is one that communicates its inhabitants’ personal story, passion, and aspirations. This is achieved through thoughtful and instinctual process that balances aesthetic integrity with optimum function, while also delivering an element of the unexpected. Each design plan is specific and unique to a client’s needs and program that is based on a strong collaboration between client and designer. As we work to carefully consider our client’s desires, we also seamlessly integrate antiques, contemporary pieces, and personal collections that we then enhance with our vast design resources. This well-managed process ensures that we not only help to realize our clients wishes, but in doing so, also exceed their expectations.
